What’s Next? (For Q2 2023)

“What’s next?” seems to be the question on everyone’s mind. What will the economy do? Will our numbers for Q1 hold steady? Will that deal close? Will that critical hire brought in Q4 be successful?

Sadly, we’ve had several painful conversations in the last few weeks with a range of talented people many of whom we’ve worked with before. The trend seems to be in a holding pattern… a wait-and-see what Q1 and Q2 brings. Our suspicion is that gaps are going to emerge where help is needed.

An organization may need sellers to drive revenue, product people to innovate, and customer success to build relationships. Layoffs and negative news headlines paint a bleak picture but don’t be fooled.

There are job opportunities now and there will be more in the future. We here at Searchlight have been in the business long enough to see the ebb and flow of hiring and layoffs.

Things in the market have been daunting but remember that every year, spring comes again. Use the dark days of winter to plants seeds, reconnect, and strategize.

Nimble organizations identify where there are gaps and try to solve for the most critical issues. In the meantime, some people are taking time to reset. Some are traveling now that the world is opening back up and some are starting new businesses.
